Profi.Travel: Surely, FIFA World Cup 2018 is one of the main reasons to visit Ekaterinburg this summer. But what else will delight guests of Sverdlovsk region? Which interesting events for tourists are planned in the region?
There are over 130 various events of different types held annually in Sverdlovsk region ― music, sport, folklore, theatrical: festivals, tournaments, fairs, international marathon and more, and more.
During the FIFA World Cup 2018, Pokrsovsky Rubezh Festival-reenactment in Artemovsky and ambitious Ural Music Night in Ekaterinburg will take place in June. In July ― Tsar Days Festival, Redhead Day Festival in Nizhny Tagil, Mramornaya Milya (Marble Mile) in Polevskoy. In August, there will be traditional and well-loved events ― Irbit trade show and Ural Terra Jazz international festival in Kamyshlov.

Profi.Travel: Which cities of Sverdlovsk region you highly recommend visiting apart from Ekaterinburg, the capital of Ural?
Nizhny Tagil — the homeland for military tanks and center of metallurgical „civilization” where Demidovs’ traditions combined with modern technologies.
Irbit — city is known for the annual fair which is the second most important in Russia and keeps second place after Nizhny Novgorod fair in commodity turnover. Today, city is considered the motorcycle capital of Russia.
Nevyansk — one of the first plant-cities in Ural, was founded on Neiva river in 1701 by Emperor Peter the Great. There are about 60 architectural monuments of XVIII-XIX centuries. Demidovs Leaning Tower of Nevyansk is one the most important tourist attractions. Nevyansk is also known as craft center of Russia where lots of handicrafts have become traditional: icon-painting, pottery, pimy production and chest art.
Kamensk-Uralsky is one of the oldest Ural industrial cities. It was established as fortress-plant and has maintained its atmosphere of past days. That is why the historic XIX century city center boasts most interesting tourist attractions.
Verkhoturye, which is called the spiritual capital of Ural. One of the oldest cities of Russia over the Ural mountains was established to protect the main Siberian trade route. There are numerous architectural monuments of XVII-XX centuries, for example, one of the smallest kremlins in Russia.

The largest amount of Ekaterinburg tourist flow is determined by business tourism. Ekaterinburg is the venue for numerous events, such as Innoprom, the major international industrial fair.
In September 2017, Sverdlovsk region ranked third among Russian regions in the event tourism rating. There are plenty of celebrations and festivals held every week to attract locals and guests of neighbour regions. Some of events enter the all-Russian and international arena, among these are Ural Industrial Biennale, Ural Music NIght, Vienna Festival and a great number of high-profile events.
Foreign tourists are interested in industrial tourism and, of course, wealth of natural landscapes which provide various options for restful and active outdoor recreation. Calm mountain lakes and fast-flowing rivers, fairytale forests and natural parks. Descend from the mountains in winter, paddle down river rapids in summer and enjoy the landscape away from the city — everything is possible in Sverdlovsk region.

If tourists are thinking about staying outside of the city, there is wide range of options to choose from: close to the city in Sysert area, or at „Belaya Loshad” equestrian club near Bazhovskiye Mesta Nature Park, or „Sova” recreational camp in Kashino. As also „Nizhnie Sergi” health center in Olenyi Ruchyi Nature Park and „Aquarelle” thermal complex in Turinsk.
