Vladimir Putin will entrust security at next summer's World Cup to Russia's secret police, according to reports. There have been fears of hooliganism and ticket touting following problems at Euro 2016.
Russia fans fought England supporters in France, with threats issued ahead of next summer.
But the Daily Mail report the country's president has moved to clamp down on security by using the FSB.
The involvement of the famous organisation is yet another example of Putin's determination to project a positive image of Russia through the tournament.
Fan leader Alexander Shprygin recently claimed the FSB had already started hunting football hooligans rather than enemies of the state.
